Season over but what a year it was.
May 22, 2019 7:48 PM
The Lady Tigers would defeat Nooksack Valley in the first game of the tournament by a score of 7-6. It was a game where they took the early lead and we weren't putting the bat on the ball much at all. By the 3rd inning we started to get things going and eventually take the lead for good and hold on at the end to put us in one of the semi final games of the night. Coupeveille would jump out early with a 5-0 lead before we switched pitchers. Coupeville had a 5-3 lead when they scored 6 runs to take a 11-3 lead. We got the score to 10-11 before the Wolves made the final out. On Saturday, Cedar Park Christian dismantled us in 5 innings by a score of 14-1. We had some opportunities but Cedar Park played a great game and didn't make the mistakes that we did on defense.
The 2019 season ended before we would have liked but we put up some great numbers and gave the fans plenty to watch during the regular season. We hit 19 home runs on the season and had a team batting average of .453. The Lady Tigers would step to the plate 686 times and produce 311 hits, 56 doubles, 14 triples, 3 grand slams and score 338 runs. On the base paths, the Tigers stole 50 of 56 bases and had an OPS of 1.191. Defensively the Tigers fielded .862 which was quite an improvement form the beginning of the season but we could never really get to the point where it was error free. One of the biggest factors in the fielding percentage was the fact that we had 477 chances on defense to make a play. The Lady's had plenty to cheer about though as we converted 8 double plays on the year and had 6 outfield assists. We pride ourselves on getting dirty and making the routing plays and every now and then you get to do something spectacular like a diving play. Jocobi and Vanderwel made some pretty nice plays leaving there feet and securing the ball. Our outfielders have really improved their arm strenght and it was a lot of fun watching them throw the ball on a line and pop the glove.
We are losing 4 seiniors that have had trememdous careers and meant alot to the program and to the Granite Falls Community. We wish you all the best Sam, Jilly, Jaide and Maddison. You girls have some great memories and a family that will be with you forever. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and sacrifice to the game.
Lady Tigers Co Champions with win over Sultan
May 11, 2019 11:56 AM
The Lady Tigers clinched a 3 way tie for a piece of the conference championship on Thursday @ Sultan with a 16-8 victory over a much improved Sultan team. We are very happy with the opportunity to call our selves Co-Champions from where we started and where we are at now. The girls have been a pleasure to work with not only this year but the seniors entire high school careers. It's been amazing to watch these girls mature and excel every year. Graduating seniors are Jillian Zachry, Jaiden Waud, Maddison Hubbard and Samantha Vanderwel. The numbers on the field have been well above the average at both levels (2A) & (1A). Their dedication to excellence on and off the field will be missed.
So. ALexis Grime would get the start in the circle for the Tigers in the last regular season game and get to the fifth where Sr. Jillian Zachry would relieve her and pitch the remaining 2 1/3 innings, striking out 2 and allowing 1 hit and no walks. Grime would give up 3 in the first on a couple walks and a couple Tiger miscues. After that, Lex would settle in and pitch very efficiently striking out 4 and only surrendering three hits. 3 of the 8 runs were earned as the Tigers would commit 6 errors on the day. Fr. Morgan White had a great day at the plate going 2-4 with a double and a single. The talented freshman would also drive in four runs, score 2 and ignite the offense for us. So. Addison Dennis chipped in a couple of hits as well lacing a double and a single. Dennis also collected a couple RBI's and scored 2 runs & added another stolen base. So. Loralai Bates hit the ball hard both times at the plate lining out to the short stop up the middle and lining a solid single in her other at bat on the day. Bates would also walk 3 times and score 2 runs. Sr's Maddison Hubbard, Jillian Zachry and Sam Vanderwel all had a single a piece to give us a total of 8 hits on the day. Zachry would also score 3 runs and drive in 2 offensively.
The Lady Tigers will face Nooksack Valley on May 16th at Janicki Fields in Sedro Wooley starting at 4:00 p.m.
Thank you to Joey Johnson, Pat Mizel, Greg Farley, Brandon Zachry for all the help to get where we are at. We have a great facility and it's been a pleasure to coach a great group of girls and a great group of men that are willing to put the extra effort in to give ourselves a chance to play with the best.
Tigers give up two big innings in loss to Cedar Park on Senior Day
May 5, 2019 8:53 AM
The Eagles of Cedar Park came soaring in and bit us in the butt before we could get our feet underneath us on Senior Night. We've had the privelage of having Jillian Zachry, Jaide Waud and Sam Vanderwel for all 4 years and they have put up some pretty amazing numbers. Sr. Maddison Hubbard joined us her sophomore year and has handled the pitching staff the last 2 years and split some time behind the dish her 1st year. These 4 ladies have provided so many wonderful memories and more importantly have put the time in and it clearly shows when it comes to their performance day in and day out. They all have a great work ethic are solid in the classroom and I don't think individually they could have better numbers statistically. 3 of the 4 are going on to play college softball and we are so excited for them to continue their journey and play against the best of the best.
The season is not over as the Lady Tigers will square off with Sultan next week to finalize the regular season and then go North to prove our worth in the 1A District Tournament. We have an explosive team that has proven to put up runs, it will be a test to our hitters if they can stay focused and loose and continue to punish the ball in the post season. These games mean a little more and we look forward to the challenge.
Tigers drop contest to Wolves
May 3, 2019 7:23 AM
The Tigers walked into a wind storm and a fiesty Wolves team that wouldn't be denied as the Wolves closed out a 20-18 victory. The loss didn't disrupt the placement at this point but sure does make today's game a little more impactful.
There's no excuse for the way we played. The Wolves were ready to play and defensively we just weren't were we needed to be. The tigers would commit 5 errors on the day and leave a few opportunites on base. It was a great battle, we just came up a little short. So. Addison Dennis launched her 7th homerun of the season, sr. Jillian Zachry was 3-4 with 3 runs scored and pitched a complete game and gave us a chance to win. Sr. Jaiden Waud was 3-6 with a couple RBI's, Sr. Maddison Hubbard was 3-5 and 2 RBI's, So. Alexis Grime also had a couple of knocks, 2 RBI's and a couple of runs scored. Fr. Morgan White had her best day on the field blasting one in the 3rd inning that looked like it was headed for the corn field in left center but hit the bottom of the fence for a triple. White would also connect in the first inning for her 1st hit of the day.
We play Cedar Park Christian today at home and we will celebrate senior day after the game.
Lady Tigers win 6th in a row and sweep the Falcons
Apr 29, 2019 8:04 PM
The weather was brewing and the temperature dropped at game time but the Lady Tigers were just as hot as they've been all year. The Tigers would pound out 15 hits and leave them standing on the field in the 5th closing the game out 16-6. So. Alexis Grime got the start in the circle going 4 1/3 before handing it over to Sr. Jillain Zachry who got the next two batters she faced and closed the book. The Tigers would bat in the 5th and score 2 runs to finish the night and improve our record to 11-5 overall and an 8-1 mark in Conference.
Sr. catcher Maddison Hubbard was 3-4 on the night with a couple RBI's and continued to pick people off base. She has a great mind for the game and does a lot of little things to help our staff and team out. So. Addison Dennis has been a force at the plate racking up hit after hit and it was no different tonight. Dennis would go 3-4 at the plate and drive in 4 runs while scoring 2 of her own. Sr. Sam Vanderwel also delivered going 1-2 with 3 RBI"s and a Sac Fly. So. Loralai Bates chipped in with a couple more hits and a couple more runs.
The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday @ Coupeville. Game time 4:00 p.m.
Lady Tigers sink Turks in 5 innings
Apr 26, 2019 11:04 AM
So. Alexis Grime got the nod on Thursday to start in the circle. Grime would go the distance in the contest striking out 5, walking a couple and only giving up 4 hits. It was a great game for her and our team. When she's on, there isn't anyone better. She's got good velocity and can field her position. It's just a matter of finding her comfort zone and never looking back. Grime would also execute a squeeze play and another new offensive weapon for us in the 4th. It wasn't your typical situation to call a squeeze, but we needed to execute and know that we can use it when we need it.
The win over the Turks Thursday night improved the Tigers record to 10-5 overall and 7-1 in conference. The victory would also be the Tigers 5th in a row over conference opponents. Sr. Jaiden Waud drove in 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks on the day. Sr. Sam Vanderwel also connected for 2 doubles and 4 RBI's in her 2 official at bats. Sr. Maddison Hubbard was 2-4 with 4 RBI's and has done a masterful job at holding runners. Hubbard would gun down a couple of base runners on the night as well as picking off a runner at 3rd. Sr. Jillian Zachry had her season long hit streak come to an end after 14 games of punnishing opposing pitchers. It was just one of those nights where she had three walks and not a ton of opportunity to swing the bat. So. Addison Dennis launched another triple, scored 3 runs and chipped in with an RBI. So. Hailey Brotherton knocked in a run and went 2-3 on the night with 2 singles and a stolen base. Hailey's understanding of the game is starting to click a little faster for her and it's paying off for her and the team. So. Loralai Bates continued her magic with the glove playing center field adding another outfield assist. Bates went 1-2 at the plate with a single and an RBI while also taking 2 BB.
The Tigers have 2 more home contests and Friday's contest is senior night against Cedar Park Christian. We will have food and beverage for the teams as well as senior intro's and acknowledgements.
Tigers go 3-0 on the week and take over 1st place
Apr 26, 2019 10:29 AM
The Lady Tigers would face three conference opponents this week and come away with 3 wins and more importantly starting to use our defensive abilities more and our pitching has done a much better job getting ahead and not allowing as many walks. The Tigers are busy and need to be on point at all times. We've had 340 chances on defense in 14 games. We aren't going to strike a bunch a people out, but we can run around the field and make plays. It's fun to see our outfielders fielding the ball and coming up throwing with intent and execution. An outfield assist isn't eay to come by and we've had several this year. Most recently... So. Loralai Bates caught a ball in center field and came up throwing to nab the runner at 1st base who got a little too far off base.
The Tiger bats have continued to stay hot collecting 44 hits on the week and scoring 43 runs. Sr. Jillian Zachry has hit leadoff for us the last two years and does a fantastic job getting on base and scoring runs. The senior would go 8-11 on the week, 8 runs scored and 3 RBI's. Jilly would also go 3-0 in the circle striking out 5 and only issuing 9 walks. Sr. Sam Vanderwel in her first week back blasted a home run and collected 9 hits overall on the week. Her play at SS has really improved our defense this year and her numbers at the plate are astronomical. Sr. Jaiden Waud's play at 1st has improved and makes our entire infeld better when she can finish plays. The slugger continues to drive in runs and make it tough on oppoising pitchers. Jaide can hit to all fields with power and relishes in those moments when you need to be calm. Sr. Maddison Hubbard is a consistant threat behind the plate and does a great job of holding runners and making them think twice about stealing. The senior also does a good job with the stick and is productive for the team. When she gets on a roll, she's as powerful as anyone. So. Addison Dennis hit her 6th home run of the season in grand slam fashion yesterday against Cedar Park Christian. Addi would go 5-10 on the week with 8 runs scored and 6 RBI's and a couple stolen bases. Her glove work at the hot corner is improving game by game. So. Alexis Grime's focus at the plate this year has been incredible and allows us to turn over the line up with runners on. Grime has showed a little more power this year too connecting for several doubles and a homerun. Alexis would go 6-10 on the week, 6 runs scored, a double and 3 RBI's. She would also finish off the game at South Whidbey going 1 inning and striking out 2. So. Loralai Bates also known as Ms. Utility is a blessing to any coach. You can put her any where on the field and she's going to give you her best and make it look good. The lefty is hitting better than .400 and does a great job of keeping defenses on their toes utilizing both the short game and the ability to swing the bat. Loralai went 4-11 on the week, scored 3 runs and drove in 2 runs.
Fr. Morgan White earned a start and got in the hit column Monday lining a solid single to right field against the Falcons. She came in mainly as a catcher, but she is a very talented player and adapts well to any position. With the departure of Sr. Maddison Hubbard next year, Morgan will be behind the plate again. So. Hailey Brotherton would add a double and did a great job in the outfield for us. Hailey's catch at the fence yesteday was a big play for us. If she doesn't catch that ball, that game plays out a little different.
The Tigers only have 1 game next week. Stay tuned.... More action to come!!!
Pitching sets the tone and Tiger bats still as hot as ever in win over Sultan.
Apr 14, 2019 2:10 PM
The contest was a delayed a day due to weather but Judy Roache field was in great shape and the Lady Tigers wasted little time defeating the Turks of Sultan on 21 hits and 21 runs. Sr. Jillian Zachey would get the start in the circle and go the distance in a 4 hit, 2 walk and 2 strike out performance. It was her best effort in the circle this year. It really set the tone for the game and allowed us to really execute on defense. Five Lady Tigers would be perfect on the day all going 3-3. So. Alexis Grime would blast her first inside the park home run, 4 RBI's and scored 3 times. Jr. Nicole Jocobi would connect for 2 doubles and a triple, drive in 2 and score 3 times. So Loralai Bates added 3 singles, 3 runs and 3 RBI's and So. Addison Dennis would add a triple and 2 singles, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Sr. Maddisoon Hubbard has been on fire with the stick lately blasted 3 hits of her own and drove in 3 at bats. Sr. Jillian Zachry went 4-5 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Fr. Morgan White courtesy ran for the catcher scoring 2 runs and connected for her first hit of the year in the 3rd inning.
We played much better overall, our defense made the plays and most importantly we pitched ahead and usually got the first out of the inning. The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Monday at South Whidbey.
Lady Tigers get left standing on the field, lose 12-11
Apr 7, 2019 11:03 AM
The Lady Tigers only contest on the break was against the Goats of Chelan. It was an early morning, a 25 minute departure delay and the Tigers would drop another non conference contest due to a defense that at times make some pretty amazing plays but again didn't show up to the park understanding what needs to happen. We need to get better jumps and we need to secure the ball when its in front of us. Sr. Jillian Zachry did a nice job in the circle striking out 3, walking 3 and surrendering only 2 earned runs on the day. The senior would also have her first 1,2,3 inning by way of strikeouts. Zachry would also go 4-5 on the day with 3 runs scored, 1 SB and an RBI. So. Alexis Grime was also productive at the plate going 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. So. Addison Dennis popped the ball up a couple times and drilled a couple singles for a 2-5 day a run scored and 2 RBI's.
The Tigers remaining schedule is conference from here on out and are currently second in the conference but if we can't manage to loosen up on defense and start making more plays it's going to be tough to give ourselves a chance when it will count the most. Just remember it's never over till it's over and somebody tells you...."It's time to go home."
Stay tuned for more action!
Tigers drop the ball at Cedar Park
Mar 29, 2019 8:37 AM
The Lady Tigers have been on quite the hitting streak and it has been the only consistent aspect of the game. The Tigers would commit 6 errors behind 15 walks, give up 8 hits and lose 14-10. We have to get better in the circle and defense is something that shows up everyday. We are to reliant on the offense to keep bailing us out of trouble. We work on conditioning and defense, throwing the ball every day and to keep making the same mistakes is frustrating.
The right hander for the Eagles did a good job on the night only walking 2 and striking out 8. The Tigers would add 10 hits lead by Jr. Nicole Jocobi who ripped her second home run of the season lifting it high into the night sky. It was a beautiful spot to come up with that hit and we were able to take the lead at that point 9-6 but couldn't hang on to the lead.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action Tuesday at Chelan.
Addison Dennis takes home the WIAA player of the week.
Mar 28, 2019 12:27 PM
So. Addison Dennis is a huge factor in our success to this point. Addi leads the team in RBI's and in home runs. She was converted to a third baseman after spending her freshman year in left field. She did a great job there but we made some changes and she has done a good job to this point at the hot corner. Dennis's offensive state for last week were off the charts going 8-14 with 3 homeruns, a triple and a double. She would add 7 more RBI's and score 7 runs as the Tigers would go 2-1 on the week.
Lady Tigers rack up 19 hits and slide into 1st place
Mar 28, 2019 12:17 PM
The Wolves would take an early lead 3-0 after a half inning of play until the Lady Tigers came to the plate. The girls have been on fire at the plate and proving that we are a contender. Sr. Jillian Zachry would go the distance for us in the circle striking out 4 on the day and allowing 11 runs on 9 hits. The senior stayed steady at the plate blasting 4 doubles on the day, 5 runs scored and 3 RBI's. So. Addison Dennis continued to chip in on the offensive column going 2-5 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI's. Sr. Jaiden Waud would light it up adding 4 hits on the day with a triple, 5 runs scored and 3 RBI's. Jr. Nicole Jocobi has been hitting more confidently was 2-4 on the day with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI. So. Loralai Bates would finish the night going 2-4 with 2 runs and an RBI. Sr. Maddison Hubbard's perfect night was robbed by a diving catch by the 3rd baseman of the Wolves. It actually was going to be a base hit bunt and the girl just made a great read on it and sold out to make the catch. Hubbard would finish the contest 3-4 with 5 RBI's. Hubbard also kept runners at bay as she picked off a couple of runners. Sophomores Hailey Broherton and Alexis Grime would add singles and an RBI in the contest and finsih the week with 35 hits.
The Tigers will be up next today @ Cedar Park Christian
Vanderwel earns WIAA player of the Week
Mar 23, 2019 3:41 PM
Sr. Samantha Vandewel has been a 4 year varsity starter for the Tigers and is as hot as she's ever been on the diamond in 2019. The senior is hitting .679 with 4 doubles, 3 triples, 3 homeruns and 15 RBI's in 7 contests. She's just been seeing the ball well and taking her time doing it. I like that she is comfortable at the plate and doesn't mind taking some pitches at times. Sam currently has a 1.375 slugging percentage and a .727 OBP and was awarded WIAA athlete of the week for March 11-March 17th.
Sam has signed a softball letter of intent to continue her career at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Lady Tigers take 2 of 3 on the week
Mar 23, 2019 3:28 PM
The Lady Tigers have been coming up in big ways when it comes to putting runs up on the board. Monday the Tigers would lose to Vashon Is. 20-12, turn around on Tuesday and beat Bellevue Christian 20-10 and finish the week at South Whidbey with a 20-2 win and our best game of the season to this point. Sr. Jillian Zachry throws 5 complete innings giving up 5 hits, 2 runs and 0 walks in the victory over South Whidbey. Zachry would earn 2 wins on the week and go 7-14 with 6 runs scored and 2 SB. So. Addsion Dennis has been racking up the power numbers blasting 3 more homeruns, a double and a triple and collectively go 8-14 with 7 runs and 7 RBI's. Sr. Jaiden Waud has really done a great job of taking more pitches this year and has been as hot as any of our hitters. The Sr. would go 7-10 with 4 2B, a HR, 3 R's scored and 3 RBI's on the week. Sr. Samantha Vanderwel continued her streak of heavy hitting going 5-9, 2 3B, HR, 8 R's, 4 RBI's and 3 SB on the week. So. Loralai Bates continues to impress us in the outfield and at the plate. She's consistent and is getting better and better jumps on the ball. Loralai would collect 4 hits on the week, 6 R's, 3 RBI's and 2 SB. Jr. Nicole Jocobi flashes the leather again for the Tigers scooping one out of the air and is making a real push for the best centerfielder in the league. Jocobi would collect 2 RBI's, 3 R's and a SB. Sr. Madison Hubbard has started to heat things up at the plate going 4-10 on the week with 2 R's scored and 3 RBI's. She has been taking a beating behind the plate and is as tough as they come. So. Hailey Brotherton was given an opportunity as has made the most of it to this point. Hailey would go 5-6 at the plate with a double, 4 R's, 4 RBI's and 3 SB in her two starts and first ever at the varsity level. So. Alexis Grime rounds out the lineup and gives us some punch at the bottom of the lineup. Alexis is continuing to work on the mechanics in the circle and does a great job in the field and at the plate. Grime was 3-9 with a double, 4 RBI's and a SB. So. Ashley Palfrey would add a double on Thursday against the Falcons and give the Tigers their 45th hit of the week.
Tiger bats erupt again at LC Invite
Mar 17, 2019 9:06 AM
The Lady Tigers came out on fire for the entire day defeating Ferndale 31-14 in the opener and finished the night cap with a 27-17 victory of Lynden Christian. The Tigers would blast 5 homeruns on the day, 2 grand slams and collected 58 hits to get back to even in the W-L column. Sr. Sam Vanderwel hit for the cycle against Ferndale and would collect another blast against Lynden Christian in Grand Salami fashion. Sam finished the day 9-12 with 8 RBI's. Sr. Jillian Zachry went 6-9 on the day with a double, 9 runs scored and 6 RBI's. Jilly would also collect her first win of the season in the circle. Sr. Jaiden Waud got her first blast of the year coming in the 2nd inning against L.C. Jaiden would finish the day 6-10, 2 doubles, a homerun and 8 RBI's. Jr. Nicole Jocobi has been a steady force for us in CF but would find her swing on this day and deposit our 1st Grand Slam of the day. The junior was perfect at the plate in the night cap going 4-4 and finished out the day 6-7, 7 runs scored and 6 RBI's. So. 3rd baseman Addison Dennis would get the scoring going for the Tigers in the first inning with a two run blast and 1 of her 7 hits on the day. Addi was very impressive at the plate today, she had great focus and is starting to hit the ball harder and harder. She would collect 8 RBI's on the day and also add a triple and a double. So. Loralai Bates has been a wonderful addition to the every day lineup. She is making the routine plays and then some in LF. Loralai would go 6-11 on the day with a double, 4 runs scored and 2 RBI's. So. Alexis Grime caught the bug too and went a stellar 5-8 at the plate with a double, 7 runs scored and 3 RBI's. The Sophomore would pick up the win in the first game and is getting more comfortable in the circle and we are excited to see her develop more as we progress through the season. So. Ashley Palfrey had some great at bats and finished the day 2-6 with 6 runs scored and a double. Ashley was dialed in and had a 10 pitch base on balls and fouled off at least 6 of the pitches to keep the inning alive.
The entire squad was able to get in to the first game and get some experience at the Varsity level.
It was a very impressive day by the Tigers and if they can continue to be dialed in like they were today, we will be a viable contender.
Seahawks rain on Tigers in opener
Mar 13, 2019 10:07 PM

The Lady Tigers will be up next at home Thursday March 14 @ 4:00 against Lakewoood.
2019 Marysville MP Jamboree
Mar 10, 2019 4:44 PM
The Lady Tigers got off to a slow start on a chilly/frozen morning but were able to take away many positive things on the day. Sr. Jaiden Waud went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Sr. Sam Vanderwel belted a triple and was solid in the field. So. Loralai Bates blasted one for a 2 run inside the park homerun and also played well in the field. So. Addison Dennis collected a pair of singles on the day and did a great job in the OF and at 2B. So. Kaitlyn Cramer stepped up collected a hit, played some outfield and pitched two innings in the circle. Sr. Maddison Hubbard did a good job behind the plate for 2 games and had some quality at bats. So. Alexis Grime threw 2 innings against Arlington and did a good job of using her defense and throwing strikes. Sr. Jillian Zachry wanted the ball the first game and did a good job of throwing strikes and allowing the defense to make some plays. We had some opportunities to shut them down, we just didn't make a few plays and it cost us a few runs. We have to learn how to make the routine plays and not allow more opportunities by giving them more outs and making our pitcher throw more than we want.
The JV girls played 3 good games and were ahead 2 of the 3 games. So. Ashley Palfrey pitched 2 solid innings and swung the bat well. Fr. Jaydin Corbin also threw 2 good innings in the circle and took a liner off the left bicep and was able to continue and finish the game. Fr. Trinity Freeman pitched two innings and handled the bat very well lining 2 solid base hits.
Overall, it was great to get outside and match up against other teams. I think we can have a great year if we continue to want to get better and be confident in our abilities. It should be an interesting regular season as we tinker with things to get where we want to be in the post season.
2019 Lady Tigers
Mar 10, 2019 5:14 PM
The Granite Falls Lady Tigers are coming off an 11-10 2018 campaign and another trip to post season play. The Tigers faced the Wildcats of Arch Bishop in a play in game at Arch Bishop where the Tigers would plate 6 runners in the top half of the 1st inning. It seemed as though the Lady Tigers would not be denied but could not put together any more runs while surrendering 15 runs to put an end to our season. The team only loses 2 seniors to graduation and have a very solid ball club defensively and offensively returning. Seniors: Jillian Zachry, Jaiden Waud, Madison Hubbard & Samantha Vanderwel have had tremendous numbers, great leadership abilities and a great mindset for the game. In 2018, Zachry hit .611 and was collectively one of the best hitters in the league. Waud belted 6 homeruns had 30 RBI's and hit .406 on the year. Vanderwel and Hubbard both hit .330 or better and made it difficult for opposing teams to pitch around us. The Tigers welcomed newcomers Addison Dennis, Alexis Grime and Loralai Bates who contributed quite a bit with their versatility and athleticism. Junior, Nicole Jacobi has 2 years of experience under her belt and we look for her to have the best year yet in a Tiger Uniform. The incoming class of freshman have good numbers and talent. The competitive practices and abilities will help us keep us on our toes and battle for a league championship in 2019.
The Lady Tigers 2019 schedule includes the restructure of our conference (North Sound) and a few new Non-Conference games. This spring the team will travel to Chelan April 2nd and play a double header during Spring break. Other Non-conference games include Lakewood, Anacortes, Vashon Island, Bellevue Christian and the Lynden Christian Invite on Saturday March 16th. The Coupeville Wolves enter into the conference and will add a quality team to the North Sound.
The Lady Tigers have signed 6 players to college softball contracts in the past 4 years. Lauren Harding -Linfield College, Makenzie McLaughlin- Northwest University, Taylor Arndt- EVCC, Huntter Lingle-SVCC and our current Seniors Jillian Zachry and Samantha Vanderwel have signed with Bellevue and Presentation College in South Dakota. We are excited for all our student athletes that put themselves on the line, put the extra hours in, keep in good academic standing and dedicate themselves to being the best they can be.
In 2018, the Tigers were able to field enough players to create a jv schedule and play 7 games. This is a huge benefactor in our program as it leads to more experience, more confident/ satisfied players and a competitive atmosphere in the dugout. We were very happy that we had the turnout we had and the girls had a chance to put their new skills to the test.
Once again, the Tiger fans were a class act and gave a tremendous amount of support to their team and their daughters. granddaughter and great granddaughters. Thank you for making it such a great place to coach. A special thanks to Pat Mizel for taking care of our field. Hands down, one of the best fields in the conference. It doesn't get much better than this as far as playing surface, drainage and the overall appearance of Judy Roache Field.
I want to thank Greg Farley, Brandon Zachry, Dale Bechtholdt and Tom FitzGerald for all the help they have given me and the program since the 2014 campaign. It is imperitive to have good help, good leadership and good friends
